Five kinds of round
A round is one question, and it comes in five flavours. Mix them: a song, then a baby photo, then a mini-game keeps the room on its toes.
How players answer
In every round but a mini-game, players pick from two, three or four answers. Each answer is a big coloured shape on their phone, and one tap locks it in. There’s no typing and no second go.
Faster right answers score more. The round ends when time runs out, or as soon as everyone has answered. How the points add up is in Run the game.
Song
A few seconds of a song plays on every phone, and players name it. Upload audio files on the Sounds tab, then press Add to quiz.
Tossup picks a question clip and a reveal clip for you. Move them in Edit clips: keep the title out of the question clip, and save the chorus for the reveal.
The answers are song titles. The wrong ones are real songs, the same artist’s first, and never another round’s answer, so nobody wins by elimination.
Noise
Guess the noise rather than the song: the kettle, the lift, someone’s ringtone. On the Sounds tab, tap the record button and record up to 30 seconds on your phone or laptop, then type what it is and press Add to library.
Add a cover photo of whatever made the noise. Players only see it on the reveal, after they’ve answered.
Recorded a song instead? Tick This one is a song, not a noise before you add it, so its wrong answers are song titles.
Picture
Players see part of a picture, a close-up or a corner, and guess what it is. The reveal shows the whole thing. Baby photos, the office from above, a holiday snap: anything your people would know.
Upload pictures on the Pictures tab, give each a name (that’s the answer), then press Add to quiz. Choose what players see in Edit crops.
The answers show with the picture from the start, so picture rounds are quick.
Text
A written question with its answers, like a classic quiz. On the Quiz tab, press Add a text round, type the Question, the right answer and the wrong ones. Add a Note if there’s a fun fact to show with the answer.
Phones show the question first and keep the answers hidden for a few seconds, so everyone has time to read.
Want them written for you? Press Paste in a quiz to bring in a quiz your own AI assistant wrote, or, on PRO, Ask for questions on a topic. Both are in Build a quiz.
Mini-game
Every player plays the same short game on their own phone: a maze, a word scramble, a race to tap first. Their best score becomes their points, up to the most a right answer earns.
On the Games tab, type a Theme, pick How hard and press Make it. The AI makes the game in a minute or three. Solve it or play it through once, then press Add to quiz. Free hosts get 3 tries a month, PRO hosts 20.
A mini-game has no right or wrong answer, so it never breaks anyone’s streak.
